Ukraine's government allocates US$183,000 for evacuation of Ukrainians from Wuhan

Ukraine's government allocated UAH 4.5 million, or US$183,000, from the country's budget to evacuate Ukrainians from China's Wuhan on February 20 amid the coronavirus outbreak.

"Some UAH 4,500,000 was allocated for the evacuation of Ukrainian citizens and members of their families from the coronavirus-hit area in the People's Republic of China (Wuhan)," an official document issued by the Infrastructure Ministry says, according to the news outlet hromadske.

The ministry received the funds from the budget's reserve fund under a Cabinet resolution dated February 5.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Chinese authorities reported an outbreak of pneumonia of unknown origin in Wuhan late in December 2019.

The causative agent of the disease was a new type of coronavirus, COVID-19. The virus is transmitted from person to person, with the incubation period lasting at least two weeks.

On January 30, the World Health Organization declared an international emergency over the spread of the novel coronavirus from China.
