Over 13,000 amendments submitted to banking regulation bill required by IMF

More amendments are yet to come, the deputy suggests.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Deputy Chairman of the Voice parliamentary faction Yaroslav Zhelezniak notes that more than 13,000 amendments had already been submitted to the bill on banking regulation.

"As of 18:00, there are already 13,000 plus amendments to Bill No 2571-d on banks... There is a deputy who has just filed more than 6,000 amendments alone, there are three more packages of 1,500 amendments each. And there are more edits to come. Therefore, I congratulate us: it turns out that the absolute record of the legislature will be broken twice," Zhelezniak wrote on Facebook.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on March 30, the Verkhovna Rada adopted at first reading a bill amending some legislative acts of Ukraine on improving certain banking regulation mechanisms (No. 2571-d). Passing the law is one of IMF's requirements for the start of implementation of a new cooperation program.

The bill provides for the inevitability of the process of withdrawing banks from the market, since the relevant decision of the National Bank cannot be canceled or suspended by a court judgment.

At the same time, the law clearly defines the prerequisites and procedure for former owners to receive compensation if they prove in court that the NBU move was illegal.

On April 3, David Arakhamia, Chairman of the Servant of the People leading faction, said that 5,000 amendments had been submitted to the bill on banking regulation.

"We understand that the process will see ultimate resistance. There are rumors that this number of amendments could rise to 8,000 or 10,000. This is an opportunity to block the promotion of this bill," the MP said.
