Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has initiated programs to support small- and medium-sized businesses during and after the coronavirus epidemic.

"Small- and medium-sized businesses suffer the most today because they cannot work and do not have a large financial cushion. Businesses are about jobs and taxes," he said at a meeting with representatives of the government and the banking sector on April 6, as reported by the President's Office.
The parties discussed the creation of tools for lending to new entrepreneurs and supporting the existing ones through loan holidays and offsetting interest payments on loans so as not to increase the number of overdue loans.
According to Zelensky, the new tools should show entrepreneurs that it is beneficial to stay within the framework of the law.
In turn, Advisor to the Head of the Presidential Office for Banking Affairs Viktoria Strakhova said: "The world has changed. It is not beneficial to work in the shadows today. Employment should be stimulated by preventing uncontrolled inflation."
"We need to create new support programs and revise the existing ones, that is, to extend support to those who are already working in various fields. Saving businesses now is to let the country breathe and live in the future," the president added.
In the coming days, the participants of the meeting will present effective programs to support Ukrainian entrepreneurs, the reports said.
