Akhmetov, the owner of System Capital Management (SCM), remains the richest Ukrainian. His fortune is estimated at US$2.4 billion, while his position in the general rating went downwards from 272nd to 875th, the news outlet LIGA.net wrote on April 7, referring to Forbes.

Founder of Smart-Holding Vadym Novinsky was excluded from the ranking since his fortune is below US$1 billion in 2020.

The list of the richest Ukrainians traditionally includes: EastOne founder Victor Pinchuk (US$1.3 billion, ranked 1613rd), Privat Group co-founders Hennadiy Boholyubov (US$1.2 billion, 1730th) and Ihor Kolomoisky (US$1 billion, 1990th), owner of the agricultural holding MHP Yuriy Kosiuk (US$1.1 billion, 1851st), and Ferrexpo owner Kostyantyn Zhevago (US$1 billion, 1990th). They lost from US$0.1 billion to US$0.5 billion in assets each, except for Boholyubov, compared with the 2019 Forbes World's Billionaires list.

"Jeff Bezos is the world's wealthiest person for the third year in a row, despite giving US$36 billion worth of his Amazon stock to his ex-wife MacKenzie Bezos as part of their divorce settlement last summer. He's worth US$113 billion, buoyed by a 15% rise in Amazon's shares since Forbes' 2019 list," Forbes says.

Microsoft founder Bill Gates keeps his spot as number two richest, followed by luxury goods tycoon, Chairman and CEO of LVMH Moët Hennessy – Louis Vuitton SE Bernard Arnault, who nudged out Warren Buffett to move into the number three spot for the first time.

In 2020, Forbes counted 2,095 billionaires, 58 fewer than a year ago. Of the billionaires, 51% are poorer than they were last year. "In raw terms, the world's billionaires are worth US$8 trillion, down US$700 billion from 2019," Forbes says.
