Ukraine's Cabinet of Ministers has appointed Olha Buslavets First Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection – she will simultaneously work as acting energy minister.

"At its special meeting, just moments ago, the government has appointed Olha Buslavets acting Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection of Ukraine in the capacity of the first deputy minister," Member of Parliament representing the Servant of the People parliamentary faction Oleksandr Dubinsky said on Facebook on April 16.

"[It has been done] without discussion with the faction. Without voting in parliament. [Owner of the DTEK energy holding Rinat] Akhmetov is above all for [Prime Minister Denys] Shmyhal. This is understandable. But as for lawmakers who are outraged by the way Shmyhal behaves, my advice is – you eat the dust. You yourself have turned into nothing and nobody, bootlickers. They do not take advice from such people," he added.

As UNIAN reported, the Verkhovna Rada on March 4, 2020, dismissed Prime Minister Oleksiy Honcharuk and his Cabinet, after which Denys Shmyhal was appointed head of the new government.

On March 11, the Cabinet tapped First Deputy Minister of Energy and Environmental Protection Vitaliy Shubin to work as acting minister. He was dismissed prior to Buslavets' appointment.

In 2017-2019, Shmyhal worked as an executive at DTEK, an energy holding owned by Ukraine's richest oligarch, Rinat Akhmetov.
