Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk instructed the Ministry of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine to immediately proceed with signing of contracts to make up for the deficit of anthracite coal, which can be supplied in needed volumes from Russia, South Africa and the militant-occupied territories of Donbas.
Vessels have to be contracted [from South Africa] right away," the prime minister said at the collegium of the Energy Ministry.
According to Yatsenyuk, Ukraine has to step up activity on diversifying its coal supplies, due to them being unstable from Russia.
According to data presented by Deputy Energy Minister Ihor Martynenko, the cost of coal supplies from South Africa is said to range at $ 78-82 per tonne, and from Russia - at $ 56-57.
