Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko announces that Ukraine and the European Union may agree on gas purchases for the entire Europe on the Ukrainian-Russian border.
"I do not rule out that <… >we'll agree with the European Union and we'll then buy gas for the entire Europe on the Ukrainian-Russian border, which will let us avoid any monopolism," Poroshenko said at a joint press conference with Bulgarian President Rosen Plevneliev in Kyiv on Tuesday, an UNIAN correspondent reported.
"Ukraine is interested in a long-term guarantee of the EU's energy security based on market principles and prices, "Poroshenko said.
The Ukrainian president also said he was confident that the transit agreement between NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine and Russia's OAO Gazprom would be continued after 2019. "As there is no wise economic alternative to that," he added.
