The Ukrainian government and the Verkhovna Rada are to work out a transparent mechanism of amber production and its sale.
The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine is revoking all licenses for production of amber, issued in 2015, reads the ministry’s report.
“Considering the recent instructions by president of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko on enhancing the efficiency of countering the illegal production and sale of amber, and also taking into consideration the recommendations of the Parliament’s Committee on ecological policy and environmental management, I believe it is correct to abstain from issuing new approvals for the period of working out a transparent mechanism of regulating the production and sale of amber,” wrote the Ministry’s press service citing deputy ecology minister Svitlana Kolomiets.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the Parliament adopted in the first reading a draft law “On production and sale of amber” in April, 2015.
Adopting this bill will allow for improving the criminogenic situation in Zhytomyr, Rivne, and Volyn regions of Ukraine, contributing to the decrease in illegal amber production.
