!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Major coal suppliers to Ukraine in the given period were Russia, the U.S. and Australia, according to the SFS data.

In the first seven months of 2015, coal imports from Russia in monetary terms amounted to $420.022 million (an increase of $55 million in July compared with six months of 2015), import of coal from the U.S. amounted to $277.501 million (an increase of $45 million in July), while import from Australia amounted to $68.956 million (the same as in the first six months of 2015). Import from other countries made up $212.175 million.

Exports of coal and anthracite in January-July 2015 in monetary terms amounted to $31.676 million.

Ukraine began experiencing acute shortage of thermal coal in the summer of 2014, as a result of completely losing control over a part of Donbas (where most coalmines were located) due to the fighting with the Russian proxies.

About 50% of Ukraine`s electric power is nuclear-generated, while the rest is produced by thermal power plants operating on natural gas and coal, as well as by the hydroelectric power plants and with the use of "green" energy.

In 2014, Ukraine imported $1.773 billion worth of coal and anthracite.
