Iran wants to buy up to 3 mln tonnes of Ukrainian grain

Iran is interested in importing up to 3 million tonnes of grain from Ukraine, according to Ukrainian Agrarian Policy and Food Minister Oleksiy Pavlenko.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"The total amount they'd like to get is up to 3 million tonnes," he told journalists while forecasting expected grain shipments from Ukraine to Iran.

The minister said that his ministry's delegation would go to Iran on a working visit in September to discuss the terms of future supplies.

Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry earlier said that possible lifting of Iranian sanctions would open up prospects for shipments of Ukrainian farm produce to that country.

The ministry projects a gross yield of grain crops in Ukraine in 2015 at 59.1 million tonnes against 63.9 million tonnes harvested last year.

UNIAN's memo. The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported that Ukraine in 2014 harvested 63.9 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops (the data doesn't include Crimea, which is occupied by Russia). It was 2.4% more than in 2013 and a record over the country's independence.
