Ukraine cut natural gas consumption in July 2015 from July 2014 by 9.1%, to 1.156 billion cubic meters (bcm) of gas, according to Ukraine's State Statistics Service.
However, gas consumption in July 2015 from June 2015 rose by 6%, it said.
At the same time, coal consumption in Ukraine in July 2015 fell by 13.6% year-over-year, to 4.057 million tonnes, yet coal consumption in July 2015 from June 2015 rose by 17.9%.
Crude oil consumption in July 2015 plunged by 74.4% year-over-year, to 58,200 tonnes, however, a decline from June 2015 was 5.5%.
As UNIAN reported earlier, PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transport system, predicts a decline in natural gas consumption in 2015 from 2014 by 20%, to 34 bcm.
Ukrtransgaz CEO Ihor Prokopiv says that Ukraine would consume less gas this year due to the isolation of occupied areas of Donbas from Ukraine's energy system and a decline in industrial production.
The State Statistics Service reported that Ukraine in June 2015 saw a 26.1% reduction in natural gas consumption year-over-year, to 1.091 bcm. Natural gas consumption in June 2015 from May 2015 fell by 19.8%.
