NBU strengthens official forex rate to U.S. dollar by UAH 1.2

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on Wednesday evening strengthened the official exchange rate of the hryvnia by UAH 1.2, bringing the national currency to UAH 21.42 to the dollar.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UAA1 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The NBU set the following official forex rates of the hryvnia against leading foreign currencies for Thursday, August 27:

$100 – UAH 2,142.5702 (on August 26 it was UAH 2,262.3411);

EUR 100 – UAH 2,442.9585 (on August 26 it was UAH 2,603.0497);

10 RUB – UAH 3.0911 (on August 26 it was UAH 3.2344).

As UNIAN reported earlier, after the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) switched from the fixed exchange rate in 2014 to the flexible system of setting the hryvnia's currency market rate (including two months in 2015), the hryvnia has lost its value against the benchmark U.S. dollar by 3.8 times and hit a historic new low of UAH 30.01 per U.S. dollar.

It should be noted that after the introduction of the NBU restrictions and the disbursement of the first tranche by the International Monetary Fund under a new cooperation program with Ukraine, the hryvnia strengthened in less than two weeks with the exchange rate fluctuating within a range of UAH 21-23 per U.S. dollar in the past four months.
