A bilateral meeting of Russia and the European Commission will take place in Vienna on September 11, according to TASS news agency citing a source in the Commission.
"Bilateral meeting between Commission’s Vice-President on Energy Union Maros Šefčovič and the Ukrainian Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn will be held today in Vienna. It will be followed by a bilateral meeting with the Russian Minister (of Energy Aleksandr Novak) in Vienna on September 11," a source said.
The Commission’s representative also noted that, depending on the outcome of these bilateral meetings, they can be followed by Ukraine-Russia-EU trilateral talks.
As UNIAN reported earlier, on August 19, the Minister of Energy and Coal Industry of Ukraine Volodymyr Demchyshyn said that the representatives of the US government will also participate in bilateral negotiations on security of gas supplies to Ukraine in a format Ukraine - the European Commission, scheduled for August 27-28.
"The meeting will take place in Vienna on [August] 27-28. Americans partners are scheduled to take part. The meeting is the next round [of the gas talks]. The American side will be represented by the U.S. government. This is a bilateral format with U.S. delegates participating informally," Demchyshyn has told the reporters.
