"No trilateral gas meeting is currently scheduled," said the Commission representative.

He added that, "as announced after the last trilateral meeting, the Commission will "put forward ideas to prepare next steps so that consultations with Ukraine and Russia can continue. In this regard, bilateral meetings on Ministerial level with both sides (Commission-Ukraine and Commission-Russia) are currently being foreseen."

According to the Commission representative, concrete dates for the bilateral meetings are still subject to confirmation by all parties.

The source also said that the Western Balkan Summit 2015 will take place in Vienna next week on August 27 where Maros Sefcovic, Vice President of the European Commission, in charge of Energy Union, will attend as one of the main topics of the Summit tackles "infrastructure and connectivity."

"The summit will be a possible occasion for the bilateral meeting between Vice President Sefcovic and his Ukrainian counterpart, Energy Minister [Volodymyr] Demchyshyn," said the Commission representative. "Furthermore, the Commission is in constant bilateral contacts with representatives of the US government as well as the International Financial Institutions (IFIs) such as the World Bank, IMF and EBRD on issues such as financial assistance to Ukraine."
