Demchyshyn calls negotiations with the EU fruitful / Photo from UNIAN
Ukraine and the European Union expect to secure payments for Russian gas, to be pumped into underground storage facilities, until the end of October, according to Ukraine’s Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshyn.
"We have held fruitful negotiations in bilateral format [with the European Commission]. We have brought our positions closer together and worked very productively on the issue of financing [of gas injection into storages]: on opportunities, on terms, on the negotiators. We sat for about three hours, having drafted a detailed plan, but it is too early to disclose. However, there will have been a result before October end," Demchyshyn has told the reporters on August 28.
At the same time, responding to a clarifying question, whether it is about a loan for the purchase of gas, Demchyshyn said: "Yes, I am confident it is."
The minister also suggested that a decision on the allocation of funds may be announced earlier, in September.
