Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of August 26 has deprived the State Service for Medicines, which is being dissolved, of its authority to license pharmaceutical activity at the time, as the successor body has not yet been granted such authority.
"The Ukrainian State Service for Medications is forced to terminate its operations on the licensing of economic activities for the production of medicines, imports of medicines, and wholesale and retail trade of medicines, which can lead to uncontrolled activities of economic entities in the mentioned area," reads the SSM statement on its Facebook page.
Cabinet has determined that the body which is to regulate the market, instead of the SSM, will be the State Service for Medications and Drugs Control. However, it still has not been established, neither had it started its work. At the same time, the government has not issued a resolutions, allowing the SSM , which is being dissolved, to continue to act as the licensing authority before the start of successor’s activity.

According to the report, the SSM appealed to the Cabinet with a request for clarification of this issue.

Reorganization of the Services has not yet been completed. Experts have repeatedly called on the government to speed up the reorganization so that the newly-formed body could ensure safe operations on the pharmaceutical market.
