Gas reserves in storages exceed 14.4 bcm

Gas reserves in the Ukrainian underground storage facilities increased by 2.3%, or 328 million cubic meters (mcm), to 14.428 billion cubic meters (bcm) from August 25 to August 30, according to PJSC Ukrtransgaz, the operator of Ukraine's gas transportation system.

The average daily volume of gas pumping into the underground storage facilities amounts to almost 60 mcm, according to the report.

As UNIAN reported earlier, according to Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk, Ukraine has 14.1 bcm of gas in underground storage facilities, while aiming at storing 18-19 bcm before the winter heating season begins in mid-October.

On July 1, Ukraine had suspended gas deliveries from Russia after fruitless talks in Vienna and significantly reduced its purchases from the EU. At this, Ukraine expects to mobilize enough funds from international financial organizations by September to secure necessary reserves in its underground gas storage facilities for the next heating season.
