Jaresko hires prominent US economist Arthur Laffer as advisor

The founder of the "supply-side economics", the prominent US economist Arthur Laffer has been designated the advisor of the Minister of Finance of Ukraine for tax policy issues, according to the Ministry's press service.

"In September the team of international experts who support the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine was joined by the prominent US economist Arthur Laffer," reads the report. 

Arthur Laffer studied at Yale University, earned a Ph.D. in economics from Stanford University. He holds a professor degree at South Carolina University and Chicago University. Former economic advisor of the US President Ronald Reagan and the UK Prime-Minister Margaret Thatcher, Laffer is the author of the well-known theory describing a relation between the public revenues and the average tax rates ("Laffer curve").  

Mr. Laffer will be advising Natalie Jaresko, Ukraine's Finance Minister, "on the tax reform aimed to create a transparent and efficient tax system which should contribute to the increase of investments, economic growth and employment as well as improve the quality of public services for business and thus provide a powerful stimulus for the sustainable economic growth of our country," the press service reported.
