The decline in industrial production in Ukraine in August 2015 slowed to 5.8% from August 2014 against 13.4% in July 2015 year-over-year, according to the State Statistics Service.
At the same time, industrial production in August 2015 fell by 4.2% from July 2015.
Industrial production January through August 2015 declined by 18% from the same period last year.
Only several sectors demonstrated production growth in August 2015 from August 2014, namely the production of coke and fuel grew by 24.7%, the manufacture of computers, electronic and optical equipment increased by 22.3%. Mining of metal ores rose by 6.7%, and coal production climbed by 1%, the State Statistics Service said.
Growth in August 2015 from July 2015 was seen only in mining of metal ores (2.5%) and coal production (by 0.8%).
The steepest fall in August 2015 from August 2014 was registered in the manufacture of wood products (by 15.1%), the manufacture of furniture and similar goods (by 14.3%), and the chemical industry (13.9%).
The steepest decline in August 2015 from July 2015 was recorded in the manufacture of electrical equipment (by 13.9%) and vehicles (by 13.6%).
The State Statistics Service said that the information does not include data from the temporarily occupied territory of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the city of Sevastopol, as well as part of the Anti-Terrorist Operation zone in eastern Ukraine.

At the same time, industrial production in July 2015 grew by 3.4% from June 2015.
Industrial production January through July 2015 declined by 19.5% year-over-year.
Ukraine saw a 10.7% decline in industrial output in 2014 from 2013; industrial production in 2013 fell by 4.7% and in 2012 by 0.5%.
