Activists block railway to Crimean plant, rail operator denies disruption

Blocking by the activists of Crimean Maidan of rail sidings on the administrative border with annexed Crimea leading to the PJSC Crimea Titan owned by Ukrainian businessman Dmytro Firtash will not affect the work of Ukraine's state railway operator Ukrzaliznytsia, as the blocked segment is just an access way, not owned by the company, the press service of Ukrzaliznytsia told an UNIAN correspondent.

"Concrete slabs have blocked the lines that do not relate to the structure of Ukrzaliznytsia, which works in the legal field and on the basis of regulations and conventions. Such overlapping of rail sidings will not affect the work of Ukrzaliznytsia," the press-service said.

Deputy General Director of the Crimean Tatar ATR TV Channel Ayder Muzhdabaev earlier wrote on Facebook that at noon on September 28, the Crimean Maidan activists blocked the railway leading to the PJSC Crimea Titan near the village of Chervoniy Chaban of Kherson region.

"Two large concrete blocks and a "hedgehog" anti-tank obstacle were put on the railway," he wrote, posting pictures.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian state railway company Ukrzaliznytsia cut all rail links to the Russian-occupied Ukrainian territory of Crimea from December 27 due to security concerns.
