China allows imports of Ukrainian dairy products

China has allowed imports of Ukraine-made dairy products based on results of the inspection regarding state control of production process in Ukraine carried out by the Chinese side, according to the press service of the Ukrainian Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food.

The press service noted that the Chinese competent authority (Certification and Accreditation Administration of China) had inspected the state veterinary monitoring and safety control systems in production of dairy products in Ukraine and found it corresponding to the Chinese standards.

However, after two years, China made changes to the legislation, provisding for all dairy exporters to undergo an inspection from May 2014 to confirm compliance of their state control over production and veterinary services with Chinese standards.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in January-July 2015 Ukrainian exports of agricultural products to China totaled $889.7 million, an increase by 2.2 times year-over-year. In particular, grain exports in value terms increased by 4.7 times to $578.3 million.

According to the Agrarian Ministry, Ukrainian export of agricultural products to China in 2014 grew by 58% as compared with 2013 to $767.3 million. Thus, the share of agricultural products in the total trade turnover between Ukraine and China accounted for 29% in 2014.
