Crimea as black hole for shadow re-exports from Ukraine to Russia

Shadow exports from Ukraine to Russia through the territory of the Russian-occupied Crimea amounts to $1-2 billion a year in monetary terms, according to economist Taras Zavgorodniy.

"In fact, this area is used as a black hole for re-export to the Russian Federation. It is about 1-2 billion Shadow exports to Russia," he said at a briefing in Kyiv on Thursday.

According to MP Ihor Lutsenko, who attended at the briefing, the flow of cargo transport from Crimea is evidence of significant volumes of exports, which is not monitored at the Ukrainian border.
