Russian gas transit via Ukraine grows by 49% in September

Transit shipments of Russian gas to the European Union via Ukraine's territory in September 2015 grew by 49% year-over-year, to 5.8 billion cubic meters (bcm), according to the operator of Ukraine's gas transport system, state-run Ukrtransgaz.

Russian gas transit fell by 13.9% in September 2015 from August 2015.

From January to September 2015, a total of 48.2 bcm was pumped through Ukraine's pipelines to European customers, which was 4% down year-over-year.

The daily amount of gas pumped via Ukraine's gas transport system to consumers in Europe and Moldova as of October 1, 2015, was 206.1 million cubic meters, which was 64% up on the same period last year.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrtransgaz forecasts that Russian gas transit supplies to the EU via Ukraine will fall by 17.7% to 51 bcm in 2015 from 62 bcm in 2014.
