NBU demands banks provide info on accounts of sanctioned individuals, entities

The National Bank of Ukraine has obliged banks within three days to provide information on balances of bank accounts of 388 individuals and 105 entities in order to implement the decision of the National Security and Defense Council on sanctions, enacted by the presidential decree, according to the website of the regulator.

According to the report, resolution No. 654 of October 1 comes into effect today, on October 2, and will be valid for the period of sanctions, which is 12 months.

The banks shall provide regulator with monthly information on the balances of these accounts and attempts to conduct financial transactions by sanctioned individuals and entities.

The regulator recalls that the implementation and monitoring of the effectiveness of sanctions are coordinated by the Cabinet of Ministers, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, with the participation of the National Bank and General Prosecutor's Office.

As UNIAN reported earlier, on September 16, Poroshenko enacted a decision taken by the NSDC on September 2 to introduce sanctions against about 400 individuals and more than 100 entities of the Russian Federation and other countries, who are involved in the annexation of Crimea and aggression in Donbas.
