Ukraine plans to earn about UAH 30 billion from privatization of state-owned assets in 2016 / Photo from UNIAN
Ukrainian Minister of Economic Development and Trade Aivaras Abromavicius has announced that 2016 will be the year of large-scale privatization in Ukraine, which will begin with the sale of one of Ukraine's largest chemical plants, Odesa Port-Side Plant.
"2016 will be the year of large-scale privatization. The first step will be the sale of Odesa Port-Side Plant. We've already hired advisors from Europe. Unlike our predecessors, we'll be conducting privatization professionally," Abromavicius said at the Ukrainian-German Business Forum in Berlin on Friday.
As UNIAN reported, the State Property Fund (SPF) of Ukraine, which is in charge of privatization in Ukraine, plans to earn about UAH 30 billion from privatization of state-owned assets in 2016 if lawmakers adopt needed privatization-related bills.
SPF Chairman Ihor Bilous predicts that at least 10 potential buyers are to bid for 99% of shares of Odesa Port-Side Plant. UBS will advise on the privatization of this asset, he said.
