The State Aviation Service of Ukraine as a key regulator of air service in Ukraine has not officially confirmed grounds to restrict flights of Ukrainian airlines in Egypt, especially in Sharm el-Sheikh, the press service of the Ministry of Transportation and Communication told an UNIAN correspondent.

"The Ministry of Transportation is not authorized to take the decision to restrict flights, it should be taken by the State Aviation Service of Ukraine. As of today, it has no grounds to restrict flights to Sharm el-Sheikh, i.e. the Ministry of Transportation has not received official documents about the need to impose restrictions," the ministry says.

As UNIAN reported earlier, a number of European airlines suspended flights from/to Egypt following the disaster of the Russian aircraft.

Airbus-321 operated by Kogalymavia crashed in Egypt’s Sinai on Saturday, October 31, on route from Sharm el-Sheikh to St. Petersburg. 217 passengers and seven crew members were on board. There were no survivors in the crash.
