The Ministry of Finance proposes an increase in spending on the Ukrainian defense sector to UAH 100 billion in 2016 from UAH 90 billion allocated in the current year, the ministry's press service reported.
"Spending on defense and security is set at UAH 100 billion, or 4.4% of GDP (hard cash, not the funds with no guarantees)," according to a statement.
As UNIAN reported earlier, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine proposed that the Cabinet of Ministers ensure spending on security and defense sectors of Ukraine in 2016 at the level of 5% of GDP, which makes at least UAH 100 billion.
