Turkey may impose counter-sanctions against Russia

Turkish Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu has said about the possibility of imposing counter-sanctions against Russia if necessary, but also claims that he hopes to overcome the crisis in relations between the two countries without any sanction measures, Russian economic news agency Prime reported.

The relations between Russia and Turkey have deteriorated sharply after the downing of the Russian Su-24 bomber by the Turkish Air Force on November 24 after violating its airspace.

From January 1, 2016 Russia banned imports of a number of products from Turkey, cancelled a visa-free regime between the two countries, and imposed restrictions on employment of Turkish citizens.

In addition, Russia and Turkey suspended talks on the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant, theTurkStream pipeline and a number of other projects.
