Medvedev approves ban on Turkish travel agencies in Russia

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev approved a list of activities prohibited for the Turkish companies in the territory of the Russian Federation, according to a posting on the website of the Russian government.

The decree specifies a list of certain types of activity (services) of the organizations under the jurisdiction of the Turkish Republic, as well as organizations controlled by Turkish citizens, are prohibited in the Russian territory from January 1, 2016.

The list includes construction of buildings and engineering structures, activities in the field of architecture and engineering design, research and analysis, activities of travel agencies and hotels, performance of work and services for state and municipal needs, wood processing.

Earlier, Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich announced the expansion of Russian sanctions against Turkey.

As UNIAN reported earlier, relations between Russia and Turkey deteriorated after the incident on November 24 when a Turkish F-16 fighter jet brought down a Russian Sukhoi Su-24M bomber, which, Ankara claims, had violated the country's airspace near the Syrian border.

Later, Moscow announced economic sanctions against Turkey. In late November, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree banning or restricting imports of certain Turkish goods, including vegetables and fruits. Moscow has also suspended the visa-free travel agreement with Turkey and banned charter flights between Russia and Turkey.
