Over 100 Ukrainian enterprises ready to supply grain to China

Last year more than 100 Ukrainian companies indicated their willingness to start exports of barley, corn and soybeans to China after being inspected by the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, according to its press service.

"Based on results of the inspections, a total of 119 economic entities were included in the list of exporters that mulled supplying products from Ukraine to China," a statement reads.

The number of corn exporters in 2015 increased to 56, while there were only three exporters back in 2013. The number of barley exporters increased to 110 in 2015, as compared to just five in 2014. The number of soybeans exporters grew to 108 last year, while in the previous year, there was only one exporter.

UNIAN memo. The largest grain exporter to China is the State Food and Grain Corporation. The Corporation buys Ukrainian grain and then exports it to China.

Ukraine’s corn exports to China accounted for 18% of the total export volume estimated at $3 billion. In addition, Ukrainian exports of barley to the Asian country made up 17.5%, estimated at $768.8 million, less only than to Saudi Arabia, accounting for 52% of barley exports.
