Cabinet seeks to get $50 mln loan from Turkey

The Cabinet of Ministers at a Thursday meeting decided to draw a $50-million loan from the Government of Turkey for a period of five years and an up-to-2.5% annual interest rate.

"The draft resolution proposes to empower the minister of finance to carry out public external borrowing in 2016 by bringing in the loan in the amount of under $50 million with a maturity of not more than five years with an annual rate no higher than 2.5%," said Finance Minister Natalie Jaresko.

According to Jaresko, a corresponding agreement between the Ukrainian and Turkish Governments will be concluded for this purpose. The Minister explained that this loan is part of the financial support for Ukraine from the G20 states.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Ministry of Finance is drafting the additional loan agreements for the implementation of a wide range of projects with Ukraine’s major creditors - the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), European Investment Bank (EIB), as well as the governments of Poland, Switzerland and Turkey.
