Russia suspends transit movement of Ukrainian trucks

Russia responds to the blockage of Russian trucks by the Ukrainian activists has suspended the movement of trucks with Ukrainian registration plates through the Russian territory, according to the statement by the Ministry of Transport.

"These measures will remain in place until the situation is settled by the Ukrainian side with the illegal blocking of Russian trucks in the territory of Ukraine,” reads the statement.

The Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation noted that the rallies aimed at blocking Russian trucks across the territory of Ukraine "are a flagrant violation of the Agreement between the Russian Federation and the Government of Ukraine on international road transport which regulates cargo transit through their territories.

At the same time, the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation noted that 1,038 Ukrainian trucks were provided free entry to Russia and further transit movement on February 11-12, 2016 alone.

"As a response measure, Russia has suspended the movement through its territory of trucks registered in Ukraine," reads the statement.
