Naftogaz offers Gazprom new terms of gas purchases

NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine has sent a letter to Russian gas monopoly Gazprom with a proposal to consider a possibility of signing an additional agreement allowing Naftogaz to purchase only the required volumes of natural gas, instead of a fixed monthly volume of 3 billion cubic meters (bcm) as envisaged by the terms of the existing contract, according to Naftogaz CEO Andriy Kobolev.

"We have offered Gazprom an additional agreement (to the contract dated 2009), which will allow us to carry out gas purchases in volumes and according to the terms that we, Naftogaz, need, instead of the fixed volumes of 3 bcm monthly as per the existing contract" Kobolev said on a Shuster Live TV panel show.

As UNIAN reported earlier, in the first quarter of 2016, Naftogaz of Ukraine imported gas from the European Union at an average price of $198 per 1,000 cubic meters, lower by 34% year-over-year.
