Ukraine unemployment drops 10% compared to 2015 - minister

The number of people registered as unemployed with the State Employment Service has decreased by 10% as compared to the previous year, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Pavlo Rozenko told Ukrainian 112 Channel.

"The situation we have now is stable. The number of people registered as unemployed with the State Employment Service is about 10% lower as compared to the previous year. Some 400,000 of people are registered with the service. Based on the methodology of the International Labor Organization, 8.5% of the whole working-age population are unemployed," Rozenko said.

In figures, this number corresponds to about 1.8 people being unemployed.

Therefore, the figures I have mentioned are quite accurate, and International Labour Organization’s methodology take into account all these nuances," he said.

According to Rozenko, the reform of the SES is designed to help employers select qualified personnel.
