Biden urges Ukraine to meet IMF requirements, continue reform in energy sector

U.S. Vice President Joe Biden during his Kyiv visit has called on Ukraine to fulfill the requirements of the country's key lender, the International Monetary Fund, and press forward the reform in the energy sector, according to an UNIAN correspondent reporting from Biden’s joint briefing with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

According to Joe Biden, thanks to the vital steps Ukraine has taken, its economy "is now growing again". However, the U.S. Vice President emphasized that "there remains much work to be done to ensure Ukraine finally realizes its potential as a vibrant, modern economy".

He also called on the authorities to create a business environment "with the legal and regulatory systems that make Ukraine a destination for investment".

He noted that none of these tasks would be easy, adding that "none of what you’ve done so far has been easy but you’ve done it".
