Ukraine, IMF to agree on implementation of reform program in coming days

Ukraine and a key creditor of the country, the International Monetary Fund, intend in the coming days to finalize all the details of implementation of the reform program, said IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde, commenting on the results of the talks with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko.

"We have discussed reforms and progress achieved under the leadership of Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and his team. I have every reason to believe that the last few technical details that need to be addressed in the next couple of days will be satisfactorily resolved. Hopefully, by that time we will have met all the requirements," the IMF Managing Director said, according to the president's press service.

In turn, Poroshenko expressed content with Ukraine fulfilling and meeting all the requirements of the third IMF Memorandum.

"IMF is a co-sponsor of a significant part of our reforms and our success. I am proud that in such a difficult time of economic and financial stabilization we have a remarkable cooperation with the entire IMF team and achieve promising results," Poroshenko said commenting on the results of the negotiations.

According to him, the next stage of cooperation between Ukraine and the IMF had been elaborated. "This cooperation is very productive. Under this program, the country has received three loan tranches totaling $7.62 billion.

November 18 a statement was issued on the results of the work of the latest mission in Ukraine, according to which the adoption of the government's state budget for 2017, consistent with the EFF targets, is one of the conditions for the successful completion of the third revision of the program. In addition, the Fund expects that financial stability is maintained in Ukraine and the measures aimed at combating corruption continue.
