Ukraine sees 4% rise in retail trade turnover in 2016

Retail trade turnover in Ukraine in 2016 grew by 4% from 2015 to UAH 1.159 trillion, or US$42 billion, in comparable prices, according to the State Statistics Service.

The highest increase in retail trade turnover in January-December 2016 was recorded in Kyiv region by 6% and Lviv region by 7.5%, to UAH 59.1 billion and UAH 68 billion, respectively.

Retail trade in Dnipropetrovsk region totaled UAH 108.1 billion, Kharkiv region reported about UAH 95.8 billion, Odesa region about UAH 84.1 billion, Lviv region about UAH 68 billion, Kyiv region about UAH 59.1 billion, and Zaporizhia region about UAH 55.4 billion.

The steepest decline was registered in Donetsk region – by 3.8%, to UAH 37.4 billion. At the same time, Luhansk region boosted retail trade by 1.2%, to UAH 9.1 billion (excluding the war zone).

As UNIAN reported earlier, retail trade turnover in 2015 amounted to about UAH 1 trillion, which was 20.7% down on 2014.
