Some UAH 353 mln to be allocated for medical support in Armed Forces in 2017 – Defense Ministry

This year, nearly UAH 353 million is to be allocated for medical support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU), which is a third more than in 2016, the Defense Ministry's speaker Oksana Havryliuk told a briefing on Tuesday, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

"Last year, the Defense Ministry received nearly UAH 258 million for medical support of the Armed Forces. Almost all of these funds were utilized for the purchase of medication and medical equipment. This year, nearly UAH 353 million is to be allocated for medical support of the AFU, which is a third more than in 2016. Some UAH 205 million of this sum will be spent for the purchase of medicines, while UAH 93 million –for the purchase of medical equipment," Havryliuk said.

A contract for the purchase of additional 100 vehicles will be concluded in the near future.

She went on to say that mobile medical and nursing teams at the military clinical facilities were involved by the operational command to ensure sustained medical evacuation support for the troops. Moreover, four mobile military hospitals have already been deployed there to deliver medical care to the frontline.
