State Statistics Service reports record grain harvest in Ukraine

According to preliminary data, Ukraine in 2016 harvested 65.95 million tonnes of grain and leguminous crops, which is 9.7% more year-over-year (y-o-y), and is a record for the country's independence, the State Statistics Service has reported.

Gross sunflower harvest amounted to 13.6 million tonnes last year, which is 21.7% more y-o-y, the report says.

Sugar beet harvest amounted to 13.88 million tonnes in 2016, which is 34.3% more y-o-y.

According to the State Statistics Service, the gross harvest of field vegetables in Ukraine amounted to 9.4 million tonnes in 2016, and 21.75 million tonnes of potatoes, which is 2.2% and 4.4% respectively more y-o-y.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers in 2016 set a historic record, having harvested 66 million tonnes of grain, which is 5.9 million tonnes more year-over-year.
