Ukraine sees 9% rise in steel output in January

Steel production in Ukraine grew by 9% in January 2017 from January 2016, to 2.1 million tonnes, according to the association of ferrous metallurgy enterprises Metallurgprom.

Production of rolled metal during the period increased by 10%, to 1.86 million tonnes, while pig iron output remained at the level of January 2015, namely 1.91 million tonnes, the association said.

As UNIAN reported earlier, steel production in Ukraine grew by 6% in 2016 from 2015, to 24.2 million tonnes; rolled metal output also increased by 6%, to 21.41 million tonnes, while pig iron production rose by 8%, to 23.59 million tonnes. Ukraine boosted coke production in 2016 by 10%, to 12.73 million tonnes.
