Cabinet develops algorithms for anthracite imports in near future

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine is developing algorithms and exploring possibilities to launch as soon as possible imports of deficient anthracite coal, as the reserves thereof are shrinking as a result of the blockade of its supplies from the ATO zone, Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Kistion said at the annual Ukrainian Energy Forum.

"We are taking all measures to reduce the consumption of anthracite coal and developing algorithms that will allow delivering imported coal in the near future," Kistion said.

Despite the fact that coal was mined by Ukrainian-registered companies, shipment and delivery of their products were actually halted. The coal has not been supplied to thermal power plants and metallurgical enterprises since February 10, which may stop heat and electricity generation, as well as breach production contracts and reduce revenues of steel companies.
