"The 'Council of Ministers' of the Republic of Crimea has issued an order on the enforced acquisition of two enterprises – Kerch switch plant (produces switch gears for railroad tracks) and Kerch metallurgical mill (manufactures steel enamelware)," ZN.UA quoted the so-called "deputy minister for industrial policy" of Crimea Boris Kabakov as saying.

In his words, it was also decided to transfer the property of the said enterprises to the newly established state unitary enterprise Kerch Metallurgical Plant.

"It will be engaged in the inventory of the property and its assessment for further acquisition," he said.

Kabakov found it difficult to name the estimated value of the purchased property. He also did not specify the timeframe of the enforcement procedure. According to him, the switch plant is registered in Kyiv, while the registration address of the metallurgical mill is the city of Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine's Dnipropetrovsk region.

According to media reports, both entities belong to companies affiliated with Ukrainian oligarch Rinat Akhmetov.

As UNIAN reported earlier, Akhmetov's two enterprises, namely the Crimean branch of telecoms giant Ukrtelecom and DTEK-owned power generating company Krymenergo, were earlier nationalized in the Russian-annexed Crimea.
