Ukraine's An-132D performs maiden flight (Photo)

Ukraine's brand new multi-purpose transport aircraft, An-132D, the Antonov plant's first plane assembled without Russian components, made its maiden flight at an airshow in Kyiv on March 31.

The aircraft is designed to operate in various climate conditions, especially amid hot temperatures and at unprepared and high-altitude airfields. Its lifting capacity is 9.2 tonnes. It is 24.537 meters long and 8.8 meters high, its wingspan is 29.2 meters.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, top managers of state-owned UkrOboronProm Concern and its part, the Antonov plant, visited the airshow to watch the flight. Representatives of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which is a customer and partner under the An-132D project, also attended the event.
