Price hike in Ukraine slows down 12.2%

Inflation in Ukraine in April 2017 slowed to 12.2% year-over-year (y-o-y) from 15.1% recorded in March 2017 y-o-y, according to Ukrainian State Statistics Service's website.

Inflation in April 2017 slowed to 0.9% compared to March 2017 against 1.8% in March 2017 from February 2017, the State Statistics Service said.

Since the beginning of the year, consumer prices in Ukraine have grown by 4.9%.

The highest price increase in April 2017, in annual terms, was recorded for hot water and heating – by 88.9%, electricity – by 63.7%, alcoholic beverages and tobacco products – by 28.3%, butter – by 28.3%, and water supply – by 27.3%.

Prices rose most of all in April 2017 from March 2017 for vegetables – by 7.6%, fruits – by 5.3%, maintenance of houses and adjacent areas – by 5%, water supply – by 3%, road passenger transport – by 2.7%, and telecommunications – by 2.7%.

As UNIAN reported earlier, inflation in Ukraine in March 2017 accelerated to 15.1% y-o-y, whereas it accelerated to 1.8% against February 2017. Since the beginning of the year, consumer price growth in Ukraine has accelerated to 3.9% compared with December 2016, the State Statistics Service said.
