Ukraine introduces anti-dumping duty on Russian chocolate

Ukraine's Interdepartmental Commission on International Trade has decided to apply an anti-dumping duty for five years with regard to chocolate products from Russia, according to the website of the official government gazette Uriadovy Kurier.

The anti-dumping duty rate will be 31.33%. The decision will come into force 30 days after the publication, Uriadovy Kurier reports.

The commission made a positive conclusion with regard to the presence during the investigation period (2015) of dumping imports into Ukraine of certain types of chocolate and other finished food products containing cocoa originating in the Russian Federation, as well as the validity of the method on the basis of which the dumping margin was determined.

Read alsoRussia extends food embargo until end of 2017The commission also revealed significant damage to the national commodity producers, which is confirmed by the deterioration of socio-economic indicators of the national manufactures during the study period of 2013-2015. In particular, the production decreased by 7.63%, sales on the domestic market shrank by 20.85%; financial results from the sale of goods on the Ukrainian market significantly deteriorated and fell by 63.36%, the profitability of the product sales dropped by 26.42%. Moreover, the use of production capacities decreased by 6.07%, while warehouses stock balance rose by 23.77%. There was also an 11.06% reduction in the number of workers engaged in the production.
