Three solar power plants to be built in Odesa region within year

Three solar power plants with a total capacity of 86 MW are to be built in Odesa region before June 1, 2018, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Kness Group CEO Serhiy Shakalov and Chairman of Odesa Regional Administration Maksym Stepanov signed a memorandum on cooperation in Odesa on May 25.

The facilities will be located in Oknyansky and Artsyzky districts of the region, Stepanov told a briefing.

"The project envisages the launch of new solar power plants whose photovoltaic systems will generate a combined total of 86 MW. Today, the total capacity of the power plants in Odesa region is 230 MW. Thus, the facilities that will be built will be a very significant contribution," Stepanov said.

Read alsoSix renewable energy facilities to be launched in Lviv region in 2017The construction of all three facilities is to be completed before June 1, 2018. They will be gradually put into operation. At present, issues related to land allocation are being addressed.

Over 500 local experts will be involved in the construction, Shakalov said.

The Kness Group energy holding is the leader in the construction of alternative energy facilities in Ukraine, according to Odesa Regional Administration's press service.

It is noted that the potential investment, both Ukrainian and foreign, which is planned to be injected into the region during the implementation of the company's projects, exceeds $80 million.
