PM Groysman supports rise in export duty on scrap metal

Ukrainian Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman says he supports the bill adopted by the Verkhovna Rada to raise the duty on scrap metal exports.

"The bill has been adopted. I have shared my opinion and the government's positions on this: Ukraine needs metal to ensure its defense amid military aggression," Groysman told reporters in London in response to a question on whether the Cabinet would ask the president to sign the bill into law.

As UNIAN reported, the Verkhovna Rada on June 8 adopted a bill to extend export duty on waste and scrap of ferrous metals for another two years. The duty is set at EUR 30 per tonne.

Ukraine's Economic Development and Trade Ministry urged President Petro Poroshenko to enact the said bill passed by the Verkhovna Rada.
