In a statement, the diplomats said that the extention by the Verkhovna Rada of export duties on metal scrap would break an agreement with the EU to remove these duties.

The parliament’s consideration of the corresponding legislation is scheduled for Thursday, June 8.

The EU Delegation in Ukraine expressed hope that members of the Verkhovna Rada will “respect the international commitments that Ukraine has publicly made and will avoid opening another bilateral trade dispute with the EU.”
