Ukraine's Rada prolongs raised export duty on scrap metal

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on Thursday has supported the amendment, submitted by Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, to a bill, extending for a year the effect of the increased export duty on scrap of ferrous metals, instead of two years, proposed by the ministers, who authored the draft law, according to an UNIAN correspondent.

Bill No. 6382 on amendments to some laws of Ukraine concerning reduction of the deficit of ferrous scrap in the domestic market was backed by 247 MPs with the required minimum at 226 votes.

As UNIAN reported earlier, the Verkhovna Rada in June 2016 adopted a bill with the president's amendments to extend export duty on waste and scrap of ferrous metals to the tune of EUR 30 per tonne for one year, as well as to abolish mandatory state registration of contracts for scrap metal exports.
