New dangerous malware spreading across Ukraine

Dr. Web antivirus company has warned about the spread of the BankBot banking malware, which had earlier infected Android smartphones in dozens of countries, including Ukraine, Liga.net reported.

As noted by Doctor Web developers, the Trojan Android.BankBot.211.origin tricks users into providing access to special capabilities (Accessibility Service), according to Liga.net.

Android.BankBot.211.origin is spreading under the guise of harmless applications, like Adobe Flash Player, the developers say. It can display fake windows to enter online banking systems, payment systems, and Google Play. In addition, the malicious program steals logins, passwords, and other important data.

Earlier it was reported that ESET researchers discovered the Stantinko adware campaign, which had been in operation since 2012 and affected over 100,000 devices in Ukraine over the said period.
